The 20th of October 2004 was
a very special day to both Girne American University (GAU) of North Cyprus and
EEI. It was the twentieth anniversary
of the founding of the University. It
also marked the signing ceremony of the collaboration between GAU and EEI. Dr John Pang, CEO, EEI Asia-Pacific HQ, Mr
Wilhelm Buckwar, EU Chief
Representative of EEI, and Mr Rex Wilton, Chairman of the SCHOLAR™ International Examining Board visited Girne, where the University
is located, to convey their personal congratulations and to conclude the
collaboration agreement.
The guest of honour of
the twentieth anniversary was none other than His Excellency Dr Rauf Denktas,
the President of North Cyprus. Dr Pang
and Mr Buckwar each made a
congratulatory speech. Mr Wilton delivered the opening lecture of the
anniversary ceremony which was entitled “Centre of the World”.

The EEI/GAU collaboration agreement
covers the articulation of courses conducted by SCHOLAR™ Credit Generating Institutions (SCGI) into Degree Completion
Programs conducted by Girne American University in North Cyprus. A GAU-SCGI Licensing Centre jointly set up
by EEI and the University will make affordable American-based education available
to students in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and the Indian Sub-continent
covering a wide geographical spread spanning from Poland to the west to
Bangladesh to the east.

Other EEI international collaborations include the SCHOLAR™-NAU American Program, which
articulates SCHOLAR™ courses into blended online
degree completion programs conducted by National American University.
